young women and men apparel store chain banks on Vanguard Networks to migrate
to a flexible, high performance store network
The mall-based specialty
retailer of casual and active apparel for young women and men has deployed Vanguard
Networks VG 3460
Access Service Gateway to their 900 stores.
Faced with rapid sales
growth and constant innovation, the stores were held back by its low speed
Frame Relay network. The VG 3460 will support existing applications like human
resources, inventory, POS, and new ones to enable associates to access product,
promotional and customer information wirelessly. The new network is IP MPLS based
with the VG 3460 providing integral T1 connective and dial up back up to
maintain store uptime. As the new wireless project gets implemented, the VG3460
can be upgraded with an embedded security suite to protect the corporate
network from Denial of Service and other attacks that may originate in the
wireless domain.
The new VG 3460 is a high
performance, modular access service gateway that supports a full portfolio of
WAN and data daughter cards thus enhancing investment protection and provides
maximum configuration flexibility for future growth. With embedded stateful
packet inspection firewall and multiple encryption options, it ensures the
highest levels of security without sacrificing throughput performance. Standards-based
interoperability with voice enabled IP networks reduce toll and long distance
charges. The voice gateway allows connectivity to the traditional telephone
network and also supports SIP applications like Hosted VoIP, SIP Trunking, and advanced
calling features, without requiring a PBX at the store.
