Foxboro, MA – February 18, 2009: Vanguard Networks today announced the worldwide introduction of the 3480 ASG (Application Service Gateway), the latest addition to its 3400 Series enterprise-class gateways for voice and data services. The new platform comes with numerous new capabilities as part of the company’s newly introduced Applications Ware 7.2 suite, and is designed to bring the widest combination of IP, TDM and serial voice and data access services to multi-site branch locations.
“The introduction of the 3480 ASG expands the capabilities of the 3400 family while maintaining its low total cost of ownership” said Vanguard Networks CEO Rudi Willems. “The robustness and reliability make the products well-suited to mission-critical applications and gives enterprises an attractive migration path to IP-based services with the wide range of protocol and service interfaces.”
Vanguard’s Application Ware Release 7.2 makes a broader array of managed services available for the branch office, enabling up to four routable Ethernet ports for simultaneous WAN access or LAN-based users with features such as IP-phones, office desktops or IP-based Point-of-Sale (POS) devices. New de-militarized zone (DMZ) capability protects reliable access to resources and repels external threats. Quality-of-Service (QOS) prioritization of encrypted voice traffic delivers a boost to voice services.
Expanding its reach further into the global enterprise branch office market, the 3480 ASG along with its predecessor the 3460, will also support two new daughter cards for ISDN BRI access for voice and data.
“With the introduction of the 3480, Vanguard has broadened its reach into the branch office access marketplace,” said Sam Alunni, Vice-President in the Managed Services Practice at Synergy Research. ”Besides being well-suited to enterprise point-of-sale applications, the value of the 3480 can be further seen in its ability to provide an easy migration path from PSTN-based voice services to cost-effective VOIP services and allow the service provider to offer multiple simultaneous WAN services with the same Vanguard 3480.”
The Vanguard 3400 Series is a comprehensive portfolio of multi-service application service gateways that consists of the data-only 3410 ASG, the 3460 ASG providing voice and data access, and the newly introduced 3480 ASG with expanded WAN access for voice and data services. Every member of the 3400 family comes in a rugged, compact, small footprint chassis, and supports a vast array of WAN and end-user interfaces including Ethernet, T1/E1, FXS/FXO Voice, ISDN, and a variety of serial interfaces.
